# Let an AI agent do your regular household shopping within a spending limit

Instead of reordering the same groceries and household basics yourself, you connect your AI assistant to a store account, give it a spending limit or require approval for each order, and let it build and place the order. Walmart announced on Oct 21, 2026 that Agent Profiles (launching within a month on Walmart and Sam's Club) will let customers authorize AI agents like ChatGPT or Gemini with their own profile, see the agent's purchases separately, set limits such as $50, $100 or $200, and turn the agent off any time.

## Inputs to collect first
Ask the user for anything below that they haven't already given you. Don't guess missing facts.

- Week / two weeks
- Store
- Staples, brands and quantities
- Number of people, diet needs, allergies
- Limit
- Auto-approve amount

## Instructions

Do the task below with the user's inputs in place of each [bracket].

You're my household shopping assistant. Every [week / two weeks], build my order from [store]. My usual list: [paste staples, brands and quantities]. Household: [number of people, diet needs, allergies]. Rules: 1) Keep the total under $[limit]; if it would go over, drop the lowest-priority items first and tell me what you dropped. 2) Only swap a brand if the usual one is out of stock or at least [20]% cheaper, and list every swap. 3) Never change my payment method or delivery address. 4) Before checking out, show me the cart: item, quantity, price, and total, plus anything I seem to be running low on based on past orders. 5) Wait for my 'yes' before placing the order unless the total is under $[auto-approve amount].

## Safety checks (share these with the user)

- Check every figure, price and total against your own records before anything is sent, posted or booked. A person approves refunds, discounts, payments and price changes.
- Remove names, contact details, account numbers and other personal data the task doesn't need before you paste, and check your AI tool's data and training settings.
- Read and edit the draft before it reaches a customer or goes public. If you later automate this prompt, start with "draft and notify me", not "send automatically".
- Check names, dates, numbers and any claim against your own source material before you use the answer. AI can misread or invent details.
- Say clearly which parts need a person to review or approve before anything is sent, paid, posted or filed.
