# Decide which accounts your AI agent may log into and which actions still need your OK, before you hand over any passwords

People are starting to let AI agents book trips, shop and handle accounts for them, and the quick shortcut is pasting a password into the chat, which leaves a copy of it somewhere you no longer control. A safer setup is to list which accounts an agent really needs, approve each login yourself, and set rules for which actions always need your OK. TechCrunch reported on Oct 22, 2026 that 1Password launched 1Password for Agents, which lets agents such as Claude Duet, ChatGPT, Grok Bot and Meta's Muse request a login; you get an alert and approve it, and 1Password fills in the credentials so the agent never sees them. ## Inputs to collect first
Ask the user for anything below that they haven't already given you. Don't guess missing facts.

- , e.g. reorder groceries, book flights, pay utility bills, update my…
- Sites and apps, no passwords
- Name, or 'none'

## Instructions

Do the task below with the user's inputs in place of each [bracket].

I want to use an AI agent for these tasks: [list, e.g. reorder groceries, book flights, pay utility bills, update my store listings]. Accounts I have: [list sites and apps, no passwords]. My password manager: [name, or 'none']. 1) For each task, list the minimum accounts the agent actually needs and mark any it doesn't need. 2) Sort those accounts into three groups: OK to let the agent log in with my approval each time, OK only for viewing, and never (for example banking, email recovery, government ID). Explain each choice in one line. 3) For each allowed account, list the actions that must always ask me first, such as paying, sending messages, changing addresses or deleting anything, and suggest a spending cap. 4) Give me step-by-step setup instructions that never involve typing a password into the chat, using my password manager's agent or sharing features if it has them. 5) Give me a monthly 5-minute checklist to review what the agent did and remove access I no longer need. Only use what I listed; don't guess about features my apps may not have.

## Safety checks (share these with the user)

- Check every figure, price and total against your own records before anything is sent, posted or booked. A person approves refunds, discounts, payments and price changes.
- Remove names, contact details, account numbers and other personal data the task doesn't need before you paste, and check your AI tool's data and training settings.
- Check names, dates, numbers and any claim against your own source material before you use the answer. AI can misread or invent details.
- Say clearly which parts need a person to review or approve before anything is sent, paid, posted or filed.
