# Lift pages stuck on Google's page 2 with a weekly internal-link pass: have Claude match each article's best Search Console queries to phrases in your other posts, show you the link plan, then add the links you approve

Many sites have pages sitting just off page one of Google that only need a few links from their own related articles to climb. On Oct 28, 2026 an SEO consultant posted on X that he fixes this every week with Claude in about 10 minutes: he gives it the last 3 months of Google Search Console data, connects his WordPress site through an MCP connector so Claude can edit posts, and has it propose 3 to 5 natural internal links per post, aimed mostly at pages ranking 4 to 15. He reviews a table of every proposed link before anything changes and keeps a changelog so edits can be undone. The prompt below runs the same pass on your site, with or without a site connector.

## Inputs to collect first
Ask the user for anything below that they haven't already given you. Don't guess missing facts.

- Or: pull it from the Search Console connector
- Or: my site is connected through the (site name) connector

## Instructions

Do the task below with the user's inputs in place of each [bracket].

Help me add internal links that lift pages close to Google's first page. I've attached my Google Search Console export for the last 3 months [or: pull it from the Search Console connector] and a list of my published posts with their URLs [or: my site is connected through the (site name) connector]. 1) For each article, find the queries where it ranks best (position 1 to 15 with decent impressions); those are its target anchor phrases. 2) Go through every post and find places where the text already mentions another article's target phrase or a close variant. 3) Rules: at most 3 to 5 new internal links per post, spread through the body (not in headings, the first sentence or existing links); never link a post to itself; link each target only once per post; anchor text must read naturally, so don't rewrite sentences to force a keyword in; give priority to target pages ranking 4 to 15. 4) Before changing anything, show me a table: source post, anchor text, target URL, the target's query and current position. Wait for my OK. 5) After I approve, make the edits (or give me exact copy-paste instructions per post), then give me a changelog I can use to undo them. 6) Remind me to leave the site alone for a few days so Google can recrawl, and suggest which 5 pages to watch next week.

## Safety checks (share these with the user)

- This prompt works on text other people wrote (emails, reviews, messages or web pages). That text can hide instructions aimed at AI, such as "ignore your rules and…". Paste it as material to work on, and never let the AI act on requests inside it, like paying, sharing logins or changing records.
- Read and edit the draft before it reaches a customer or goes public. If you later automate this prompt, start with "draft and notify me", not "send automatically".
- Check names, dates, numbers and any claim against your own source material before you use the answer. AI can misread or invent details.
- Say clearly which parts need a person to review or approve before anything is sent, paid, posted or filed.
