# Switching AI apps? Move your assistant with you: export its instructions, skills, persona and remembered facts into one file, check the report of what didn't transfer, and import it into the new app

On Oct 30, 2026 developer Story91 launched OpenTeleport, an open-source tool for people who spent hours teaching an AI agent how they work and then lose it all when they switch apps. One command reads an agent's persona, instructions, skills, routines and remembered facts from one app, writes it into another (or into a portable .jetpack file), and produces a report of what moved, what was approximated and what was skipped. It supports Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, Hermes Agent, Letta Code, Grok Bot, OpenBot and any folder with an AGENTS.md; routines arrive disabled, it can scan a bundle for secrets, and it never calls an AI model or a remote service. The project says some targets are still experimental and that a moved agent may not behave identically. The prompt below helps you take stock of your setup before any move.

## Inputs to collect first
Ask the user for anything below that they haven't already given you. Don't guess missing facts.

- Current app
- New app

## Instructions

Do the task below with the user's inputs in place of each [bracket].

I'm moving my AI assistant from [current app] to [new app] and want to keep how it works for me. Here is everything I can export or copy from the current one: [paste its instructions or system prompt, custom skills or saved prompts, persona, memory or saved facts about me, scheduled tasks or routines, connected tools]. 1) Sort it into: instructions, skills (step-by-step recipes), facts about me, routines, and connected tools. 2) Rewrite the instructions as one clean AGENTS.md-style file that works in any app, removing anything specific to the old app. 3) Turn each skill into a short, app-neutral recipe with a one-line 'when to use this'. 4) List every routine with its schedule so I can recreate it in the new app, switched off until I test it. 5) Flag anything that looks like a password, API key or private data so I remove it before moving the file. 6) Make a checklist of 5 test requests to run in the new app to confirm it behaves the way the old one did, and note what probably won't carry over.

## Safety checks (share these with the user)

- Check names, dates, numbers and any claim against your own source material before you use the answer. AI can misread or invent details.
- Say clearly which parts need a person to review or approve before anything is sent, paid, posted or filed.

## About this skill

- Works with: OpenTeleport, Claude Code, Codex, OpenClaw, Letta Code, Grok Bot
- Based on this real-world example: https://x.com/Story91_/status/2116211150715027459
