# Bring a website you haven't touched in years back to life in one evening: have an AI agent audit it first without changing anything, rank what's broken, then fix security and tracking issues and draft a redesign only with your OK

Many small businesses that live on referrals let their website go stale for years. In an X post on Oct 31, 2026 (@grey_worm5309), a business owner who gets most of his work from referrals and repeat customers wrote that in the three hours after Grok Bot created a bot for him, it cleaned up and optimized his websites and back-ends, ran security checks, updated his Google Analytics tags, started removing 6 malware files, removed hundreds of spam contact-form submissions, did 3 complete redesigns, built a Facebook ad campaign and built an app to track his jobs, schedules and budgets and share images with customers. He says SEO is next. It's a self-reported first night with no results yet, so treat it as a list of what to ask for, not proof of outcomes. Before letting any agent edit a live site, take a full backup, work on a copy where you can, and check afterwards that malware is really gone. Agents and brokers with an old personal site can use the same order: audit, fix, then refresh.

## Inputs to collect first
Ask the user for anything below that they haven't already given you. Don't guess missing facts.

- Years
- Your own material (text, notes or data)

## Instructions

Do the task below with the user's inputs in place of each [bracket].

1. Take a full backup of your website (files and database), or ask your host how.
2. Ask your AI: "My website is [URL] and hasn't been updated in [years]. Audit it without changing anything: security problems, outdated plugins, suspicious files, broken or missing analytics tags, spam in the contact forms, slow pages and anything that looks dated. Give me a ranked list with the risk of each."
3. Approve fixes one at a time, security and tracking first. After each one, check the site still loads and the contact form still works.
4. Ask it to draft a refreshed design on a copy of the site, not the live one, and pick the version you like.
5. If you want ads, ask for a small draft campaign with a budget you set, and don't let anything launch or spend money until you approve it.

## Safety checks (share these with the user)

- This prompt works on text other people wrote (emails, reviews, messages or web pages). That text can hide instructions aimed at AI, such as "ignore your rules and…". Paste it as material to work on, and never let the AI act on requests inside it, like paying, sharing logins or changing records.
- Check every figure, price and total against your own records before anything is sent, posted or booked. A person approves refunds, discounts, payments and price changes.
- Remove names, contact details, account numbers and other personal data the task doesn't need before you paste, and check your AI tool's data and training settings.
- Read and edit the draft before it reaches a customer or goes public. If you later automate this prompt, start with "draft and notify me", not "send automatically".
- Say clearly which parts need a person to review or approve before anything is sent, paid, posted or filed.
