Turn your coding agent into a video studio: pick a pipeline, research the topic, script and edit real footage or generated clips, then self-review the render before you publish: AI agent prompt
OpenMontage (github.com/calesthio/OpenMontage, AGPL-3.0, ~77k GitHub stars as of Nov 6, 2026) is an open-source agentic video production system with 12 pipelines, 100+ tools and 700+ skill files. Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, Windsurf or Codex reads YAML pipeline manifests and Markdown director skills—there is no separate orchestrator. Work moves research → proposal → script → scene plan → assets → edit → compose, with human approval at creative checkpoints. A zero-key path uses Piper TTS, free/open archives and Remotion/FFmpeg; paid providers are optional. Distinct from still-image slideshow tools: agents can assemble real motion footage from open archives.
The prompt
Set up an OpenMontage-style agentic video for [topic / length / format: explainer, trailer, screen demo, podcast]. Stack: [Claude Code / Cursor / Codex] plus OpenMontage (git clone https://github.com/calesthio/OpenMontage && make setup). Budget: [zero-key only / allow paid providers]. Hard rules: use a named pipeline (no ad-hoc scripts); pause for my approval after proposal and script; run post-render self-review (ffprobe, frames, audio) before showing me a final; never invent citations. 1) Confirm install prerequisites (Python 3.10+, Node 18+, FFmpeg). 2) Choose the pipeline and draft the director brief. 3) Run research → proposal and stop for my pick. 4) Continue through compose only after I approve. Output the plan and the first proposal.

Check yourself
- Check every figure, price and total against your own records before anything is sent, posted or booked. A person approves refunds, discounts, payments and price changes.
- Read and edit the draft before it reaches a customer or goes public. If you later automate this prompt, start with "draft and notify me", not "send automatically".
- Check names, dates, numbers and any claim against your own source material before you use the answer. AI can misread or invent details.
