Pull every promise out of a client contract and turn it into an owned, dated checklist so nothing gets missed: AI agent prompt
Contracts and statements of work bury commitments such as reporting dates, staffing levels, service levels and penalties across dozens of pages, and missing one can cost money and reputation. AI agents can read each contract, list every obligation with the page it came from, assign an owner and due date, and flag clauses that conflict. Microsoft reported on Oct 21, 2026 that Birlasoft built a system of six specialist agents, coordinated by a planning agent, that extracts and validates obligations from more than 1,000 statements of work a year, finding over 10 obligations per project on average and saving about 4,000 person-hours a year, with people reviewing the results because the obligations carry financial and legal weight.

Here is a client contract or statement of work: [paste or attach]. Our team and roles: [paste names and roles]. 1) List every obligation we have, one per row: what we must do, deadline or frequency, who on our side should own it, the penalty or consequence if missed, and the section and page it comes from with a short quote. 2) List the client's obligations to us the same way (payments, approvals, access, data). 3) Flag clauses that link to each other across the document, such as a term on one page that changes a deadline later. 4) Flag anything vague, unusual or in conflict, and suggest a question to ask the client. 5) Give me a 30-60-90 day checklist of what's due first. Quote the contract exactly; don't guess at anything not in the text. This isn't legal advice, so note anything a lawyer should review.

Before you use it: what to check
Already built into this prompt
- Quote the contract exactly; don't guess at anything not in the text.
Check yourself
- Check every figure, price and total against your own records before anything is sent, posted or booked. A person approves refunds, discounts, payments and price changes.
- Anything legal, tax or compliance-related is a first draft for a qualified person to check. It is not professional advice, and clause references and deadlines must be checked against the source.
- Remove names, contact details, account numbers and other personal data the task doesn't need before you paste, and check your AI tool's data and training settings.
- Check names, dates, numbers and any claim against your own source material before you use the answer. AI can misread or invent details.
