Never miss a contract renewal again: have an AI agent find every agreement renewing in the next 90 days, read the amendments and pricing changes that still apply, check each against your rules, and send only the big or unusual ones to a person: AI agent prompt
Knowing what a contract really says means reading the original together with its amendments. In a New Stack article on Oct 31, 2026, Docusign CTO Sagnik Nandy describes Iris, which pulls out contract terms, links contracts with their amendments and finds upcoming renewals; his example is finding software contracts worth more than $1 million that renew in the next three months. Agents can check agreements against company playbooks, running in the Iris chat or as steps in Docusign's Workflow Builder, and workflow rules decide what is automated: smaller renewals go through automated routing, while high-value contracts or ones with exceptions go to a person. A small business, brokerage or landlord can run the same sweep over software subscriptions, vendor contracts, leases or listing agreements with a general AI tool.
The prompt
1. Collect your active contracts, with their amendments and price changes, in one folder. 2. Ask your AI: "For each contract, give me the other party, what it covers, the current price after any amendments, the renewal or end date, the notice deadline to cancel, and whether it renews automatically. Group amendments with the contract they change, even if the company name is written differently." 3. Add your rules, e.g. "anything over $5,000 a year, any price increase, or any auto-renewal needs my review". 4. Ask: "Which contracts renew or need notice in the next 90 days? Mark each REVIEW or ROUTINE using my rules and give the reason." 5. Put the notice deadlines in your calendar and decide on the REVIEW ones yourself. Ask a lawyer about anything unclear.

Before you use it: what to check
Check yourself
- Check every figure, price and total against your own records before anything is sent, posted or booked. A person approves refunds, discounts, payments and price changes.
- Anything legal, tax or compliance-related is a first draft for a qualified person to check. It is not professional advice, and clause references and deadlines must be checked against the source.
- Read and edit the draft before it reaches a customer or goes public. If you later automate this prompt, start with "draft and notify me", not "send automatically".
- Check names, dates, numbers and any claim against your own source material before you use the answer. AI can misread or invent details.
