Cut your household or rental bills without the phone marathon: have an AI agent list every recurring bill, research what new customers are being offered, and prepare a script to get the lower price locked in: AI agent prompt
Internet, phone, insurance and utility bills creep up after the intro rate ends, and most people never call to ask for a better deal. On Oct 30, 2026, the X account Helpful Landlord, a landlord who writes about real estate and personal finance, posted that he was unleashing his Grok Bot AI agent to cut the family's monthly expenses, and that the first win was home internet going from $115 a month to $65 a month, locked in for 2 years (the post had over 100,000 views). The same approach works for a landlord's property bills: utilities on vacant units, internet in rentals, insurance and software subscriptions.
The prompt
1. Export 3 months of bank and card statements (or list your bills) and ask your AI: "List every recurring bill: provider, what it's for, monthly amount, and when the price last changed. Flag any that went up after an intro offer." 2. For the top 3 by cost, ask: "Find the provider's current public prices and new-customer offers for the same or better service at [my address or area], plus competitors' offers. Link every price to the provider's own page. If you can't confirm a price, say so." 3. Then: "Write me a short, polite script to call or chat with [provider]: my current price, the offers you found, a request to match or beat them with the rate locked in for [12-24] months, and what to say if they say no (ask for retentions or cancellations)." 4. Make the call or approve the chat yourself, since you're the account holder. Don't let the AI agree to a new contract, cancel a service or give out payment details for you. 5. Ask the AI to log the result (old price, new price, end date of the deal) and remind you a month before the deal ends.

- Don't let the AI agree to a new contract, cancel a service or give out payment details for you.
- Flag any that went up after an intro offer." 2.
Check yourself
- Check every figure, price and total against your own records before anything is sent, posted or booked. A person approves refunds, discounts, payments and price changes.
- Anything legal, tax or compliance-related is a first draft for a qualified person to check. It is not professional advice, and clause references and deadlines must be checked against the source.
- Remove names, contact details, account numbers and other personal data the task doesn't need before you paste, and check your AI tool's data and training settings.
- Read and edit the draft before it reaches a customer or goes public. If you later automate this prompt, start with "draft and notify me", not "send automatically".
