Decide which accounts your AI agent may log into and which actions still need your OK, before you hand over any passwords: AI agent prompt
People are starting to let AI agents book trips, shop and handle accounts for them, and the quick shortcut is pasting a password into the chat, which leaves a copy of it somewhere you no longer control. A safer setup is to list which accounts an agent really needs, approve each login yourself, and set rules for which actions always need your OK. TechCrunch reported on Oct 22, 2026 that 1Password launched 1Password for Agents, which lets agents such as Claude Duet, ChatGPT, Grok Bot and Meta's Muse request a login; you get an alert and approve it, and 1Password fills in the credentials so the agent never sees them. The same day, TechCrunch noted, Axios reported that U.S. banks have begun detecting agent activity inside customer accounts, and a Chase spokesperson said customers should not give their usernames and passwords to anyone.
SecurityAgent login permissionsbeginnerWho this is for
Anyone about to let an AI agent use their online accounts.
Not for
Business banking or payroll accounts: keep agents out of those entirely.
What you need
The tasks you want help with and a list of your accounts (never passwords).
The prompt
I want to use an AI agent for these tasks: [list, e.g. reorder groceries, book flights, pay utility bills, update my store listings]. Accounts I have: [list sites and apps, no passwords]. My password manager: [name, or 'none']. 1) For each task, list the minimum accounts the agent actually needs and mark any it doesn't need. 2) Sort those accounts into three groups: OK to let the agent log in with my approval each time, OK only for viewing, and never (for example banking, email recovery, government ID). Explain each choice in one line. 3) For each allowed account, list the actions that must always ask me first, such as paying, sending messages, changing addresses or deleting anything, and suggest a spending cap. 4) Give me step-by-step setup instructions that never involve typing a password into the chat, using my password manager's agent or sharing features if it has them. 5) Give me a monthly 5-minute checklist to review what the agent did and remove access I no longer need. Only use what I listed; don't guess about features my apps may not have.
Worked example
A fictional business, so you can see what to paste in and what a good answer looks like. The example answer was written with AI help and its numbers and dates were checked; your AI's answer will be worded differently, so check it the same way.
Sample input (what you paste in)
Tasks: reorder office supplies, update store hours on Google, book client meeting rooms. Accounts: Amazon Business, Google Business Profile, Calendly, Gmail, bank, Shopify. Password manager: 1Password.
Example output (illustrative)
| Account | Needed for | Group | Must ask me first | |---|---|---|---| | Amazon Business | reorder supplies | log in with approval | placing any order | | Google Business Profile | update hours | log in with approval | publishing changes | | Calendly | book rooms | log in with approval | booking anything paid | | Shopify | not needed | never (for these tasks) | | | Gmail | not needed | never: it's your password-reset account | | | Bank | not needed | never | | Tip: share only the 3 needed logins with the agent from a separate 1Password vault, and remove them when you stop the task.
Check before you use it: Re-check the 'never' list: email used for password resets and banking should stay off-limits.

Before you use it: what to check
Already built into this prompt
- Only use what I listed; don't guess about features my apps may not have.
Check yourself
- Check every figure, price and total against your own records before anything is sent, posted or booked. A person approves refunds, discounts, payments and price changes.
- Remove names, contact details, account numbers and other personal data the task doesn't need before you paste, and check your AI tool's data and training settings.
- Check names, dates, numbers and any claim against your own source material before you use the answer. AI can misread or invent details.
