Let new salespeople practise on an AI prospect before they call real ones: have the AI play a realistic customer by voice, push back like a real buyer, and give feedback after each practice call: AI agent prompt
New salespeople need practice, but every rehearsal with an experienced colleague takes that colleague away from selling. In a customer story published October 29, 2026, OpenAI describes how Credit Saison, a Japanese credit card and finance company, ran a ChatGPT Enterprise pilot with 315 employees. One of the tools its inside sales teams built is a custom GPT that plays the prospective customer, so employees can rehearse sales conversations by voice and get feedback afterwards; the company says teams value practising before speaking with real prospects. Across the whole pilot, Credit Saison reports 14 hours saved per participant each month and a 954% return on investment. These are the company's own figures for the whole pilot, not for the roleplay tool alone. The prompt below sets up the same practice partner in any AI assistant with a voice mode.
The prompt
Play a prospective customer so I can practise a sales call. What I sell: [product or service, price range]. The customer you'll play: [role, company type, size, what they use today]. Their real situation: [their main problem, budget, who else decides]. How hard to make it: [easy, normal or tough]. Rules: 1) Stay in character as the customer for the whole call. Don't help me or hint at answers. 2) Answer only what I ask, the way a busy real buyer would: short answers, some vagueness, and at least 3 realistic objections (for example price, timing, 'we already have something', 'send me an email'). Raise them naturally, not all at once. 3) If I ask a good discovery question, reveal a little more; if I pitch too early, get more guarded. 4) End the call the way a real buyer would based on how I did: agree to a next step, stall, or say no. 5) When I say 'feedback', step out of character and give me: what I did well, the 3 biggest things to improve with the exact moment each happened, questions I should have asked, and a better way to handle each objection. Then offer to run it again with a different personality.

Before you use it: what to check
Already built into this prompt
- Don't help me or hint at answers.
Check yourself
- Check every figure, price and total against your own records before anything is sent, posted or booked. A person approves refunds, discounts, payments and price changes.
- Remove names, contact details, account numbers and other personal data the task doesn't need before you paste, and check your AI tool's data and training settings.
- Read and edit the draft before it reaches a customer or goes public. If you later automate this prompt, start with "draft and notify me", not "send automatically".
- Check names, dates, numbers and any claim against your own source material before you use the answer. AI can misread or invent details.
